A 3-day Community Arts Festival in Woodbridge, Suffolk celebrating ambient music with live performances, art, film, installations, workshops, talks, kid’s events, yoga, storytelling, mental well-being, river walks, poetry, music metaverse, environmental awareness & food market, bringing the community together to enjoy an uplifting and inspiring weekend. Ambient music provides the backdrop to all events.

SATURDAY:WHISSTOCKS SQUARE MARKET 10am Saturday morning we welcome families and children of all ages to an Environmental Awareness Market on Whisstocks Square with Transition Woodbridge hosting a local food growers market, showing respect for our area with talks and displays on how climate change impacts our lives and how it is affecting the beautiful river Deben. Music in the Square from DJs Hewsen; Aartwork play around 1PM

SATURDAY:FLOATING EQUAL 12.00pm - Floating Equal The Saturday Autumnal Equinox hears the beautiful River Deben coming alive with the sound of ambient installations along the river path at high tide, followed by a reading of the River Declaration on Whisstocks Square, brought up river from the North sea at Bawdsey by canoeists, swimmers, small boats and kayakers.

A river wide installation ‘Floating Equal’ will take place at noon with ambient music along the riverbank and a reading of the River Declaration, brought up from the North Sea by canoeists, swimmers, small boats and kayakers. #savethedeben

2PM The highlight of an event packed weekend will be a performance by Suffolk native, pianist and composer Tom Rogerson, who worked with Brian Eno on their collaborative album, ‘Finding Shore’. Tom Rogerson and Friends will play a Sunday afternoon concert in the beautiful Church of St Marys.

What a treat instore for Woodbridge! We are delighted to announce that Talvin Singh is joining the line up for Sunday Concert at St Marys Church Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival! The father of modern Asian electronica music will be joining Tom Rogerson at St Marys Church at the Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival weekend on Sunday 25th Sept. Doors open at 2pm. The world-renowned tabla player, best known for creating an innovative mix of Indian Classical Music and Drum and Bass, has worked with and remixed many artists including Madonna, Massive Attack, Blondie, Bjork, Ryuichi Sakamoto and John Martyn. In 2014 Talvin was awarded the OBE for his service to the music industry. He will be joining pianist Tom Rogerson who worked with Brian Eno (known as the father of ambient music) on the beautiful album ‘Finding Shore’ - Tom says improvisation ‘taps so directly into the subconscious … that chance meeting with Eno and subsequent conversation about the Suffolk landscape did find its way into 'Finding Shore'. "I do totally hear it, I'll listen and think 'oh that sounds like the bells at Woodbridge, that's the birds, the wind rustling in the reeds'. I think it permeates my music, and Brian's ambient records.” Tom and Talvin will be duetting at the afternoon concert and Viola da Gamba player Liam Byrne, who was recently commissioned by the Victoria and Albert Museum to create a sound installation for their new Courtyard Gallery, will be opening the afternoon with the hauntingly beautiful cello of Clare O’Donnell.

TOM ROGERSON AND FRIENDS - SUNDAY SEPT 25TH 2022 Tom Rogerson is a pianist and composer from Suffolk. We are so pleased to have him performing with invited friends at the Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival on Sunday Sept 25th at St Mary’s Church. Tom has been a great supporter of the festival and his insightfulness, enthusiasm and support has been very welcome. Since the release of his last album – 2017’s 'Finding Shore', a collaboration with Brian Eno – pianist and singer-songwriter Tom Rogerson’s life has undergone a number of dramatic transformations and brought him back from Berlin to the Suffolk of his childhood. It was working with Eno, another Suffolk native, that eventually led Rogerson back to his roots and back to a place where he could write ‘Retreat to Bliss’, his solo debut album.
